About Rachel
Rachel teaches singers and teachers worldwide online and in person from her studio in North London (N6) and her studio in Paris.
As one of five Directors at Modern Vocal Training, she is integral in the structuring and delivery of teacher training and masterclasses in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese across the globe from all over Latin America and North America, Europe, middle and the Far East.
Rachel works with Industry signed artists and leads in West End shows, Olivier Award winners, Grammy award-winning singers & producers, and works as voice coach for Warner Atlantic Records. She has worked on ‘The Voice’ Australia, “io canto’ stage di perfezionamento Italy, and is a regular teacher with European Vocal Camp. Since 2015 Rachel has been Tutor/Lecturer of Voice Techniques at BIMM Institute, London. She has a passion for developing artists as well as a particular interest in and extensive knowledge of the many different vocal methods.
Some of Rachel’s regular clients include Grammy Award-winning recording artists and producers, notably Seal, Trevor Horn (Buggles, Yes), Steve Hogarth (Marillion), Jim Lowe (Stereophonics, Herbie Hancock), Japanese star Hikaru Utada, and Boy George (Culture Club), plus leading stars of the West End musicals including two lead ‘Michael Jackson’s from Thriller; Olivier Award-winning Dreamgirls lead, Adam Bernard (Thriller, Star Wars, BBC TV), Michael Duke (Thriller), the Lion King, and many other West End shows. She has been involved in projects with Giants of the acting world such as Sir Christopher Lee (Dracula, Saruman, Scaramanga) and musicians of the Rock world from Dire Straits, Yes, Supertramp, and ELO as well as TV celebrity/singers, including Alesha Dixon. Her masterclasses have been attended by stars of the European stage, including Operacion Triumfo star Rosa Lopez, actor Javier Godino (El Secreto de sus Ojos), San Remo festival winners i Baraonna and many more.
With her relaxed but professional approach, Rachel is able to put her students immediately at ease and rapidly identify and address their specific vocal needs. Dedicated to developing singers and singing teachers from the early stages through to fully fledged careers, Rachel has coached singers from the beginning stages of singing and songwriting through to competitions, performance and recording.
Her 20 years of experience as a singer and guitarist and background in classical, jazz, pop, R’n’B and Latin provide her with enormous versatility as a teacher. As well as English, Rachel speaks Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese fluently, enabling her to work with linguistic issues and iron out accents in those languages. She is also well versed in both popular and traditional music genres from Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Latin America, working with many singers from these countries in styles as far-ranging as Fado, Flamenco, Italian song, Bossa Nova, Samba, Argentinian Zamba and Tango to Mexican Bolero, Cuban Son and Salsa.
